Lawnchair

Lawnchair is a free, open-source home screen replacement derived from Launcher3, part of the Android open-source project. It aims to deliver a user experience akin to the Pixel Launcher while integrating additional features.

• Local, on-device search functionality

Currently in its beta stage, Lawnchair has not yet resolved all features or bugs. The team intends to release a stable version once it meets the comprehensive feature set of Lawnchair Legacy, alongside their quality assurance standards.

Permission explanations

Lawnchair utilizes the AccessibilityService permission for optional enhancements that allow certain system functions, such as desktop gestures for turning off the screen, to be more accessible. Users will be prompted to enable this feature if necessary; for many configurations, it may not be required. Notably, no data is collected from the AccessibilityService; its sole purpose is to facilitate system actions.

Additionally, Lawnchair requests Device Administrator permission to lock the screen when a designated gesture is detected; however, this feature is optional and disabled by default.
